I am pleased to announce that Ontario will invest an additional $14,883,419 in three York Region Hospitals that would provide faster access to health care, expand crucial services and procedures, and improve the experience of patients.
This investment in York Region is part of a 3.1 per cent increase in hospital funding proposed in the 2017 Budget to directly benefit patients at every public hospital across Ontario, and would:
2017/18 Total Base and One-time investments:
Mackenzie Health $ 5,808,404 (3.26% increase)
Southlake Regional Health Centre $ 5,746,684 (2.02% increase)
Markham Stouffville Hospital $ 3,328,331 (2.02% increase)
Ontario is increasing access to care, reducing wait times and improving the patient experience through its Patients First Action Plan for Health Care and OHIP+: Children and Youth Pharmacare – protecting health care today and into the future.
“By increasing our investment to each and every publicly funded hospital in Ontario, patients will be able to connect with specialists faster, have reduced wait times and better access to the procedures they need close to home.”
— Dr. Eric Hoskins, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care
"The role of the Central Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) is to plan, fund and integrate health care services for our local hospitals along with over 90 other health care service providers. Improving health care access and creating a more patient-centred system is central to our mandate. This additional investment will help provide more care for more people."
– Kim Baker, CEO, Central LHIN
“With the rapid growth in York Region, our hospitals are experiencing increased demand on services. This investment in our York Region Hospitals will continue to improve access to health care for individuals in our community. Reducing wait time for individuals and their families is just one important outcome that this increased funding will have.”
–Dr. Helena Jaczek, M.P.P., Oak Ridges-Markham
